21st century space usually reserved to temporal exhibitions, will be closed to the public due to the refurbish works of the big shipyard.

  • At 12.30h: Guided visit to one element of the collection.
  • At 17.30h: Guided visit to the Harlan 1881 coach.


  • 1st Sunday from 11.30 at 13.30 h.: “Life steam”. We turn on the Mataró locomotive.
  • 2nd Sunday from 11.30 to 13.30 h.: Guided visit to the Luxury saloon coach “ZZ324”.
  • 3rd Sunday: “TRAIN-tale”, at 11.30 h.
  • 4th Sunday (october), from 11.30 to 13.30h: The museum volunteers explain the collection.
  • Last Sunday: Guided visit to the Harlan 1881 coach.

All Saturdays and Sundays: “Video-train” Train documentaries inside a “type J” goods wagon, adapted as a cinema room.


Guided Visits:

  • For groups of 10 or more persons, there is a special price to visit the museum with a guide and enter some spaces usually closed.

  • Friday 14th: The Volunteers of the Museum (SIC) will travel to Cellers-Llimiana, with the new trains from Lleida to Pobla de Segur.
  • Tuesday 25th, 18.30h.: Conference “Eduard Maristany i Gibert, mister of railway”, by engineer Xavier Nubiola and with the collaboration of Miquel Biada Historical Circle.
  • Friday 28th, from 10.30 to 14.30h.: Open doors day, 168th Mataró-Barcelona Railway Aniversary
  • Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th.: The mayor of Sant Pol de Mar will donate a piece of the first rail used in the Mataró-Barcelona line to the Museum.


  • Saturday 12th, from 10 to 20h.: Collectors fair, organized by “Estació Naútica de Vilanova i la Geltrú”. There will be stands with cava cups, kinder, sugar envelopes, coins, stamps, bookmarks, thimbles, trains, postcards, calendars, comics, etc. There will be 2 temporal exhibitions: “The railway world” and “The sea world”. Since this event will coincide with the November Fair, the access to both the fair and the museum will be free.
  • Monday 14th to Friday 18th: Garraf Science Week, with the collaboration of the CRP Garraf and the UPC Vilanova, and the participation of Vilanova and Garraf High Schools.
  • Thurday 24th, 18.30h.: Forum Interrail (autumn edition) with topics about railway innovation. With the collaboration of the “Railway Systems” Masters Degree, hold by the UPC Vilanova.


  • Saturday 10th, from 12 to 23h.: Fes-T’hi 2016. 5th Artisan Beers Winter Festival. With the participation of more than 20 catalan, spanish and foreign microbreweries. The access to the fair and to the museum will be free.
  • Saturday 17th, at 12h.: XVI edition of “Camins de Ferro” Annual Awards. These are the awards given to persons, institutions and companies that collaborated with the museum.





  • From March 15th to April 3rd. Trunki promotion. (, the museum and the offer again a 5% discount on “Trunki” lugages purchases.
  • Thursday 10th: Interrail Forum session with the conference “The new Lleida-La Pobla trains” by Oriol Juncadella (Director of FGC Operadors). At 18.30 h., at the museum show room.
  • Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th, Easter special opening hours: mornings 10.30 to 14.30 h., afternoons 16.oo to 19.30 h.


  • Thursday 14th: Conference “The railway int he japanese art” by Jordi Font-Agustí. This conference is an entertaining illustrated walk across painitng, literature, cinema and comic to see the importance of the railway in the japanese society. We will be able to see art from old engravings ukiyo-e to Junya Sato frenetic cinema, from Kawabata subtle narrative to erotic mangas.


  • Tuesday 3rd. Women for the history memory of Vilanova meeting.
  • Thursday 5th, 18.30h. 2nd Interrail Forum, with the theme: the implantation of the new transport integrated ticketing system “Tmovilitat”, with Mr. Jaime Ramos (comunication and marketing director)
  • Wednesday 18th. International Museums Day. Free entrance from 10.30 to 14.30.
  • Friday 20th. Presentation of the short stories “Relatos americanos” (ed. DIFACIL). The event will have the presence of Mr. François Cousin (diplomat of France embassy) and Mr. César Sanz (editor).
  • Saturday 21st. Museums’ Night. Special opening hours from 19.30 (pm) to 1.00 (am). With special activities and musical performances.
  • From 23th to 27th. Junior Science Conference. The Museum cooperate with the Garraf CRP giving directed visits to all participants.
  • Tuesday 24th, 18.30h. Round Table “Museums and Cultural landscapes from Penedès and Vilanova i la Geltrú” with Jordi Medina Alsina (cultural manager), Albert Tubau (engineer and historian) and Eusebi Casanelles (industrial heritage specialist and member of TiCCIH)
  • Tuesday 31st. III International day for Women’s health. Organized by Mossos d’Escuadra south metropolitan region.


  • Thursday 2nd, 18.30h. Railway conference with Jordi Valero (RENFE locomotives driver) about his own working experience.
  • Wednesday 8th. Presentation of the book “The last Spaniards at Muthausen” by Carlos Hernández (author and journalist).
  • Friday 10th. The International Level Crossing Awareness Day. The Museum cooperates with the ILCAD ( with advertisement.
  • From 21st to 24th, the Museum will remain closed for maintenance.


  • From July 11th to October 2nd, XXI Century space: “A railway sight”, temporal exhibition by PHOTOAMICS. This photographers group want to share their special sight to the interior and exterior of the railway world.
  • July 11th, at 19 h. Exhibition opening.
  • September 13th, at 18,30 h. Round table about the relationship between photography and railway, always very close together.
